Christies Auction House, London
Client: Fraser Randall Ltd
Oakenwoods were integral members of the project team who contributed to the successful delivery of this prestigious joinery and fit-out project.
The Project:
The works comprised of the refurbishment to the ground and first floor viewing/sale rooms in King Street, SW1 known as the Ryder Room, Long Gallery, North Room and Book Room and included the circulation areas within the site boundaries. Due to the complexity, high quality specification and bespoke joinery required plus the fast track nature of the project - we entered into joint venture to deliver this challenging project.
All areas received a general upgrade and refurbishment including; timber floors, wall linings including top hanging detail and skirtings, wall coverings, media housings, new staircases which were designed and built by us, new full height auction area door sets, refurbished doors and architraves, new bespoke light box’s and free standing joinery pieces.
The brief:
This is a very high specification and finish to an occupied grade 2 listed building working in close liaison with the Conservation Officer and Architect. The project included substantial stripping out to four gallery areas, then applying the high specification finishes throughout the building. The scheme had a large carpentry and joinery package with elements of contractors design including a bespoke joinery package, a new metal staircase with structural glass balustrades, structural wall linings and patinated brass sheet work.
OUR ROLE:
Responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and installation of the carpentry and joinery.
The transformation and atmosphere of the new wing gives an outstanding contemporary feel to the 250 year old building. This project typifies our commitment to quality whilst being competitive in a sector of the market which is extremely sought after.
